Marina Nemat Conference at CIV 06-05-13- Short article in English
Marina Nemat: Moral teachings at the Centre International de Valbonne
The 400 students from 2nde and 1ère in English section at CIV were deeply touched by Marina Nemat’s conferences at CIV May 6th, some even to the point of crying. Born in Tehran in 1965, she was incarcerated d for having written anti-revolutionary articles. She was 16 years old. Tortured and raped during two years, she escaped to Canada in 1991, where she wrote the international bestsellers “Prisoner of Tehran” and “After Tehran: A Life Reclaimed”, which follow her life in Iran and her struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms (PTSD). In her two conferences, touching upon history, philosophy and geopolitics, she made students reflect on the human condition. As she stated, “it is easy becoming a torturer when you were a victim”.
