Riviera MUN 29-03-13: Short article in English for the ASEICA
Hello everyone,
Here is the article written for the ASEICA and various other school papers, since it is the shortest of both articles I wrote.
I hope you enjoy the read!
The Riviera MUN, the « mini United Nations », took place March 29th at CIV. About 100 students gathered in the Agora to discuss current topics around the main theme “Life Protection”, just as the real United Nations delegates would. Resolutions on the Syrian conflict, the Israeli-Palestinian humanitarian crisis, the dependence on fossil oils, and various other questions were debated all day long. Participants came from Nice and Monaco International Schools (ISN and ISM), CIV, and even the Bilingual School of Aix-en-Provence, and represented 20 countries and NGO’s. Debates took place under the watchful eyes of Mr. Gallagher (head organizer), Charles Bonfils (Secretary General), and teachers from the various schools attending the event. Even though there were some heated discussions, a friendly and respectful atmosphere prevailed. Problems were resolved with peaceful, diplomatic resolutions and amendments, sometimes even with surprising humor (as the “Vulcano Gods Amendment”). All participants appreciated the seriousness, warmth, and passion of this very successful MUN session.
